EverFlor - Prime PU - Polyurethane Floor Primer for Concrete

EverFlor Prime PU is a polyurethane floor primer for bare, porous substrates. It is a single-pack, solvent-based polyurethane that dries to a clear film. Its job is to prepare raw concrete, screed and block paving so the floor coating that follows has a sealed, even base to bond to.

Bare porous substrate does not take a topcoat evenly. Open areas draw binder out of the coating, denser areas hold it at the surface, and loose dust sits in the bond line. Prime PU seals that surface first. The topcoat then goes onto one consistent primed layer instead of a substrate that varies across the floor.

It is a single-component product. Open the tin, stir it and apply it as supplied. There is no hardener to measure, no pot life to work against and no thinning. Apply it by brush, roller or spray, on interior and exterior floors.

Features

Good to know

• Preparation governs adhesion. Clean, sound, dry substrate is the condition for the primer to bond and for the coating to bond to it.
• The product is specified for porous, bare substrates. Dense, sealed or previously coated surfaces fall outside its stated use.
• The overcoat window has a maximum as well as a minimum. Plan the topcoat so it goes on inside that window.
• Apply only within the stated application temperature range.
• It is solvent-based. Ventilate interior spaces during application and drying, and clean tools with white spirit.
• Foot traffic comes well before full cure. Keep heavy loads off the floor until the full cure period has passed.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Prepare the floor correctly before you open the tin. Adhesion depends on it. The substrate must be sound, clean and dry.

Sweep and vacuum away all dust and loose material. Remove any contamination that would sit between the primer and the substrate. Prime PU is for porous, bare substrates: concrete, sand and cement screeds, brick, blockwork, plaster and block paving.

APPLICATION

Apply between 5°C and 25°C. Stir the product thoroughly. Apply it as supplied. Do not thin it.

Use a brush, roller or spray. Apply one even coat across the whole area. Work out any pooled material so the coat stays uniform.

DRYING AND OVERCOATING

At 20°C the primer is touch dry in 6 hours. Apply the floor coating from 6 hours and no later than 48 hours after priming. Allow 8 hours before foot traffic. Full cure takes 7 days. Lower temperatures extend these times.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Clean tools with white spirit. Store sealed tins between 5°C and 30°C. Shelf life is 24 months.
